Mr. Roy Knox, son of Julia Conway Knox and Zeke Knox was born on February 5, 1918. He passed this earthly life on January 18, 2018. Roy Knox was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Virginia Diane; three sisters, Mary Knox, Ora Lee Knox and Letha Hill; three brothers, Bennie Allen Knox, Freeman Knox and "baby boy".
Roy Knox joined Mt. Pleasant CME Church at a young age. He graduated in 1951 from McRae High School in Prescott, Arkansas. He married Elizabeth Nixon on November 23, 1943. To this union, they had five children; Peggy Knox, Rowenia Knox Cheatham, Virginia Diane Knox, Roy Thomas Knox and Cheryl Knox. He served in the armed forces proudly as a WWII Veteran and worked for Day and Zimmerman until his retirement. He was elected as post commander of American Legion post 888, a member of the Knights of Pythias and was a notary for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Knox (Bess); one son, Roy T. Knox (Pamela Woods Knox) of Houston, TX; three daughters, Peggy Knox and Rowenia Cheatham both of Wake Village, TX and Cheryl Knox of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and cousins.
Visitation will be 11am-5pm, family hour 6-7pm Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Mt. Pleasant CME Church, 512 E. 28th St., Hope. Burial will be at Deann Cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements are pending with Hicks Funeral Home, Inc.
