A 55 year old retired state highway police officer pled guilty to a federal weapons charge Friday (1-22). John William Vickers appeared before U.S. District Judge Susan Hickey and made the plea. He is facing up to ten years in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000 or both. The case has not been scheduled for sentencing yet. Vickers was arrested October 26th in Prescott for terroristic threatening after allegedly posting threats of violence against area law enforcement officers. When his house was searched, officers found a 20 gauge shotgun, a pistol and ammunition. Vickers had been prohibited from possessing firearms in April of this past year after a protective order was filed against him in Ouachita County. The apparent violation of the protective order led to the federal firearms charge.
