A standing room only crowd fillled the Hope City Hall Board Room Tuesday June 13th as the city held a public hearing to determine possible uses for an outdoor recreation grant. Shelley Morehead of Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development was on hand to explain the grant that Hope plans to apply for. The grant would be a 50/50 grant meaning the city would have to provide up to 50% of this funding. At least some of this could be "in-kind" services. It has been assumed the city will seek funds for a Farmers Market Pavilion to be constructed on the former Graves property at 2nd and Elm downtown. Comments included suggestions for improvements to both Fair Park and Northside Park, consideration of a "splash" park, and possible amenities to the suggested Farmers Market Pavilion.
