Historic Washington State Park announces the annual summer concert series “Music in the Park” with the theme “Music from our Roots.” A free concert series held on the third Saturday of June, July, and August. The music we listen to reflects our roots and where we come from. Many songs we think of today had their roots in the nineteenth century or before. Enjoy this music series as you hear groups whose music is connected with their family and where they have come from.
On Saturday, July 15 the Purple Hulls will be performing at the park. The Purple Hulls are a dynamic duo of talented identical twins, Katy Lou & Penny Lea Clark, raised on a working purple hull pea farm near Kilgore Texas. Concentrations focus on multi-genre venues, festival appearances, church shows and house concerts.
Work in the fields, solid family values and in church every time the doors opened, provide the inspiration and foundation for their authentic acoustic driven music. They have performed around the country sharing their joy of music. More information can be found at:www.thepurplehulls.com.
Bring your lawn chairs or blanket to spread on the grounds of the 1874 Courthouse by 7:30 p.m. on concert dates. The gift shop will be open for refreshments and Williams’ Tavern Restaurant will be open from 11 am – 7 pm for dining. Concert will be moved indoors if inclement weather occurs.
