At approximately 1039 hours on July 17, 2017 Deputy Sorensen was dispatched to 371 Hempstead 44 in reference to a medical emergency.
Upon arrival he made contact with The mother of a 53 year old male who stated that her son, had arrived at her house and seemed to be hallucinating. She stated that her son has been known to smoke marijuana but she didn't know of anything else.
Deputy Sorensen then made contact with the son who stated that the devil was outside trying to get him. When Deputy Sorensen asked him what happened he stated that God had come to his yard and wanted to play ball with him. He stated that while he was talking with god in the yard, the devil came and he had to leave and he then came to his mother's house. He stated that he just wanted to go somewhere and be protected from the devil.
Pafford EMS arrived and spoke with the son who was unable to answer any of their questions but willfully went with them.
The 53 year old male was transported to Howard Memorial Hospital. .
At approximately 1230 hours on July 17, 2017 Deputy Sorensen was dispatched to the Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office in reference to theft.
Upon arrival, he made contact with Judith Fetner. Judith stated that yesterday at approximately 1100 hours she left her residence at 3366 Hours and went to town. She stated that she returned at approximately 1500 hours and noticed that she was missing some medication. She stated that she was missing approximately 80 Hydrocodone pills and approximately 40 Xanax Pills. She stated that both pills were still in their respective prescription bottles. Judith stated that she did not know who took the pills but she wanted a report so she could go to the doctor and get her prescription refilled.
Shots Fired at Residence
At approximately 0822 hours on July 17, 2017 Deputy Sorensen was dispatched to 135 Hempstead 18 in reference to shots being fired at a residence earlier on this date.
Upon arrival, he made contact with Ronny Shewbirt. Ronny stated that at approximately 0130 hours to 0200 hours this morning he heard several shots come from outside his residence. He stated that when he heard them, after hiding his family in the closet, he ran outside. He stated that he never saw a vehicle but he heard what he thought was a loud truck pull away from his house and turn south onto Highway 29 North.
He stated that this morning he was looking around the house and he noticed what appeared to be a bullet hole in the outside wall of his home. He stated that he also started looking around by the road and found four bullets casings. He then showed deputy Sorensen both of these things.
Deputy Sorensen observed four .223 casing near the west side of the road. Deputy Sorensen then went into the house with Ronny. He observed what appeared to be an exit hole on the inside wall of the home, inside a cabinet. The bullet appeared to travel through the wall, through a box, and into a inside wall where it appeared to be lodged.
The incident is under investigation
On July 16, 2017 at approximately 2300 hours, Deputy Brown observed a vehicle commit the traffic violation of no turn signal, located at the intersection of Highway 32 E and Hempstead 126, in Hempstead County, Arkansas.
Deputy Brown activated his emergency equipment and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the traffic stop, it was discovered that the driver, Randy Tucker, had a valid failure to appear warrant with the City of Hope for $3000.00. At this time, Randy was placed under arrest for the warrant.
Randy was transported to the HCDF where he was turned over to the on-duty jail staff for booking. The City of Hope was notified that he was at the HCDF so the warrant could be served.
At approximately 1845 hours on 07/16/17 Sgt. Bush was dispatched to 4769 Hempstead 3 in reference to a criminal trespass.
Upon my arrival, he made contact with Sarah and Velvet Gray. Velvet stated that they were walking back to the house from across the road and seen a white male standing next to their blue truck in their driveway. She stated that when the white male seen them he turned and ran towards the dog fence and then around the eastern side of the house.
She stated that she does not know where he went from there. Sarah and Velvet described him as being a slender white male with brown hair. Sarah stated that she went up the driveway to see if she could see where he went and only seen a gray suburban possibly a 90's model parked at the cemetery up the road. They also noted that they saw a red full sized truck with a two toned red bed that drove down the road towards the deer lease behind their property.
Sgt. Bush searched the property with Paul Gray and did not locate anyone or any foot prints. Paul stated that everything appeared as he left it.
On July 16, 2017 at approximately 1700 hours, Deputy Brown received a call from the police dispatcher regarding a civil dispute over child custody, located at 563 Hempstead 36, in Hempstead County, Arkansas.
Both parties were advised to seek legal counsel or contact their Attorney’s
Criminal Mischief Civil Matter
At approximately 1609 hours on 07/16/17 Sgt. Bush was dispatched to 3431 Highway 278 East in reference to a criminal mischief.
Upon arrival he made contact with a 44 year old female who stated that she has been having problems with their neighbor coming on their property. She stated that he sometimes rides his mower across the pasture which they didn't mind him doing until he ran through their pea patch that they planted about a month prior.
She stated that recently within the last two weeks he has cut down some trees on the property line and allowed them to fall on their property and left them. She stated that it damaged the fence which they are not worried about because they were going to build a new one but they also left the trees laying in the pasture which they cut for hay. The female stated that the trees are on their property and that the fence marks the property line.
Sgt. Bush spoke with the alleged property owner who stated that he spoke with the females husband about a year ago about cleaning up the fence line. He stated that he and came to an agreement that he would cut them so they would fall on his side of the fence.
Sgt. Bush advised both parties that he would would speak with the prosecuting attorney's office to see if this needs to be taken care of as a civil dispute or a criminal mischief.
On July 16, 2017 at approximately 1440 hours, Deputy Brown received a call regarding a theft of property that already occurred, located at 824 Hempstead 14, in Hempstead County, Arkansas.
Deputy Brown made contact with the victim, Della Ware, who stated she was staying at a friend's residence at 824 Hempstead 14 when a 37-year-old male stole $37.00 out of her purse. Della stated she was asleep and the suspect must have taken the money out of her purse, but she did not see him taken anything. Della stated her and the suspect got into an argument over the stolen money. Della stated the suspect told her he did not take any money and he left the residence.
On July 16, 2017 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Cpl. Jeremy Mc Bride was dispatched to 212 Hempstead 166 South in reference to a suspicious person. Upon arrival, Deputy McBride saw Haskell Morris standing in front of a silver Dodge pickup, behind Haskell's residence. Deputy Mc Bride made contact with Haskell and Haskell stated a lady drove up to his shop located behind his residence, after circling the driveway three times.
Deputy McBride made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Bonnie Fry. Bonnie stated she was attempting to pick her mother up from Lake Erling. Bonnie stated that "her mother lives right around the corner." Deputy Mc Bride noticed that Bonnie seemed confused and contacted Emergency Medical Services at this time.
While speaking with Bonnie, her cell phone started ringing. Deputy Mc Bride asked Bonnie where her cell phone was located and Bonnie started looking in her purse. Bonnie located the cell phone and Deputy Mc Bride answered it. and made contact with Cathy Allen. Cathy stated that her sister, Bonnie was diagnosed with dementia and diabetes; and Bonnie left the house this morning without anyone knowing Deputy Mc Bride advised Cathy of their location and Cathy stated that she was in route.
Pafford Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and evaluated Bonnie. Cathy arrived on scene while Pafford was evaluating Bonnie. Cathy advised that Bonnie left this morning without anyone knowing.
Bonnie declined medical treatment and was released to Cathy. Cathy transported Bonnie back to her residence on Hempstead 142.
Civil Dispute over Children
At approximately 2339 hours on 07/15/17 Sgt. Bush was dispatched to 4115 Hempstead 3 in reference to a civil standby. Dispatch advised me that the caller Christina Fillmore wanted to meet at B&R Building supply on South Main Street in Hope, AR.
I then met with the caller. Christina advised me that she came down from Missouri to pick up her sister kids.
Sgt. Bush advised Christina without a court order she could not get the kids, she was referred to her attorney.
Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms.
On July 15, 2017 at approximately 1615 hours, Deputy Brown was patrolling the area of W. Ave B and Hamilton Street, when he observed a white male he knew as, Mark Collums, driving a silver Ford Ranger and a female passenger, Kimberly Sutton. he knew Kimberly was a heavy user of narcotics and Mark was possibly driving on a suspended driver's license. Deputy Brown had the police dispatcher run an ACIC/NCIC query on Mark. The query revealed Mark has a suspended driver's license and a failure to appear warrant with the City of Lewisville, Arkansas.
Deputy Brown observed Mark sitting inside his vehicle across from 717 W. Ave A. As Deputy Brown was pulling up to W. Ave A, He observed Kimberly bend down near the rear passenger's side of the vehicle and Mark began walking across the street to 717 W. Ave A. Deputy Brown made contact with Mark and placed him under arrest for the failure to appear warrant out of Lewisville, Arkansas, because they advised the police dispatcher they would extradite.
This area is known for high narcotic activity. Deputy Brown asked Mark and Kimberly if there was anything illegal on their person or inside their vehicle and both stated no. He asked Mark if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle. Mark stated there was nothing inside the vehicle that he knew of. Mark stated Deputy Brown could search the vehicle.
During the search of the vehicle, Deputy Brown located a blue Pal Mal cigarette pack containing two clear bags with what appeared to be methamphetamine residue in them, and a short straw commonly used for ingesting narcotics, located inside a tear on the driver's side seat.
Deputy Brown continued searching the vehicle. Once he got to the passenger's side of the vehicle, he observed a gray sock with a glass pipe commonly used for consuming methamphetamine sticking out of a hole in the sock, located beside the rear passenger's side tire. Deputy Brown reached down to pick up the sock and located two blue Pal Mal cigarette packs both containing a piece of plastic twisted up. He opened the twisted plastic and located a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. Deputy Brown noticed the bed of the truck and the inside were full of blue Pal Mal packs exactly like the ones that were located by the tire. At this time, Kimberly was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Kimberly and Mark were both transported to the HCDF where they were both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Deputy Brown also recovered a camouflage backpack in the bed of Mark's truck containing a silver revolver .22 caliber pistol. The pistol had 10 unspent .22 caliber bullets in the cylinder and was ready to fire. Mark was charged with Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms also.
Hit and Run
On July 15, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Deputy Jeremy Mc Bride was contacted by Esperanza Ferretiz in reference to criminal mischief. Esperanza stated her vehicle, a 2004 Cadillac Escalade was hit causing damage to the right rear of the bumper. Esperanza stated the vehicle was parked by her porch when it was hit.
Esperanza stated she only has liability insurance and just wanted a report on the incident.
Person Reports Being Drugged
On July 15, 2017 at approximately 5:00 a.m., Deputy Mc Bride was dispatched to Wadley Hospital in Hope, Arkansas in reference to someone possibly being drugged.
Upon arrival, he spoke with a 54-year-old woman. who stated that she was at her friend’s apartment and was "hanging out. The 54-year-old started wiping her shirt off. she stated that there were rocks all over her at this time. Deputy Mc Bride did not observe any rocks on the 54-year-old female.
After the female stopped wiping her shirt, she stated that she thinks she was drugged. she stated that she snuck out of Hope in Action on Highway 67 and went to the Imperial Apartments on Main Street to hang out with an individual.
The 54-year-old female stated that she was drinking her Pepsi and saw several clear "rocks" in her drink. she stated that after a couple of minutes, the "rocks" would start to get smaller and eventually disappear. Deputy Mc Bride asked the female if the "rocks" were ice. she stated "it could have been."
At that time Deputy McBride asked the 54-year-old when the last time she consumed methamphetamine. She stated that she would be killed if she told him where she got it from.
Deputy Mc Bride advised the 54-year-old that he already knew where she got it from. She stated that a white female told her to go see a person at a local business. Deputy Mc Bride asked the 54 year old female if she was giving me consent to search her room at Hope in Action. she stated yes.
Mc Bride then went to Hope in Action and advised Helen Byers that he was asked by the 54 year old female to look at the room. Helen then escorted me to room number 5 and unlocked the door. Helen opened the door and Deputy Mc Bride did not see any rocks in the room. He observed numerous medication pills on the floor and on the night stand.
Helen stated that the 54-year-old was acting strange and was sitting in the hall in her underwear, before she was transported by ambulance. Helen stated that she went to the hospital on the night of July 14, 2017 and spoke with the 54-year-old. Helen stated the 54-year-old was diagnosed with pneumonia and dehydration.
At approximately 1940 hours on 07/14/17 Sgt. Bush was dispatched to 4205 Highway 278 West (Rowe Industries) in reference to a structure fire.
Hope Fire Department and Washington Volunteer Fire Department were already on scene prior to my arrival and were putting a tractor out that was dragged from inside the shop area.
Sgt. Bush made contact with Jorge Zaldivar who is an employee of Rowe Industries that was working late. He stated that he was in a separate building and was leaving to go home when he seen the smoke coming from the shop. He stated that he then called his boss and found that it was the tractor that caught fire in the shop.
Sgt. Bush then spoke with DeWayne Rowe. DeWayne stated that they got the call about the fire and when they arrived he opened the doors to the shop. He stated that the international tractor that they were working on may have had a short or some kind of electrical problem that he thinks started the fire.
The fire damaged the roof of the shop and a Genoa Volunteer Fire Truck that was parked in the next bay over from the tractor. The truck appeared to have damage to the paint and plastic parts on the passenger side of the truck. There was also smoke damage to the rest of the shop.
On July 14, 2017 at approximately 1600 hours, Deputy Brown received a call from the police dispatcher regarding Arkansas State Police needing assistance with an accident, located on Highway 67 W and Red River bridge.
Upon arrival, Deputy Brown made contact with Arkansas State Troopers and Miller County Sheriff's deputy. Traffic was at a standstill Deputy Brown assisted with traffic control, along with the Miller County Sheriff's Department until the roadway was cleared
