
The Hope City Board held their 2nd meeting of February on Tuesday February 16th. The board opened the meeting by proclaiming February as children's dental health awareness and prevention month. Mayor Ramsey read the proclamation and urged everyone to practice good dental health.
The board voted to hire Connie Lavender as city clerk. She has served as deputy clerk for the past several months.
Paul Henley spoke to the Board about requesting a grant from Arkansas Historic Preservation for the 1934 Girl Scout Log Hut. The board agreed to seek $20,000. If the grant is approved, the Tourism Commission will match $10,000.
The board approved the reappointment of Margaret Jackson to the Hope Housing Authority. She will serve a new five year term. The board reappointed Babu Patel to a 4 year term on the Hope Tourism Commission and Steve Montgomery to a one year term to the Tourism Commission.
Under the city manager's report, Catherine Cook gave updates on the wastewater and landfill projects. She also noted a Economic Development "boot camp" will be offered March 3rd in Magnolia. Cook said an engineer and a swimming pool contractor recently inspected the Fair Park Pool and will offer some options at a future meeting. The board agreed to move the next board meeting to March 8th and the meeting then adjourned.
