On February 16, 2016, at approximately 130pm officers of the Hope Police Department responded to the Bank of the Ozarks located in the 1300 block of North Hervey Street, in Hope, in reference to an Aggravated Robbery.
Officers were advised that a man entered the bank, presented a handgun, and demanded money. Officers were further advised that the suspect fled the area in a blue Ford Explorer, headed south on Hervey Street.
A Hempstead County Deputy located the suspect vehicle traveling south on South Main Street. A traffic stop was conducted near the 2200 block of Bill Clinton Drive by officers of the Hope Police Department, Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas Game and Fish. The suspect, Johnny Crawford, 74, of Winnsboro TX, was taken into custody without incident. Crawford was transported to the Hempstead County Detention Facility where he was held for a first appearance. A handgun and an undetermined amount of money was recovered from the vehicle.
FBI Little Rock Division was notified of the incident and Special Agents of the Texarkana RA responded.
