The City of Hope is developing a new website and is looking for photos to use in a slide show on the site.  These can be current events, past events, old structures, anything appropriate for general audiences.  If you have photos email them to postmaster@hopearkansas.net 

Applications are now being accepted for the Second Annual Washington Community Library scholarship. The amount of the scholarship is $250. With the exception of the Washington Community Library Board and their dependents, any Hempstead County resident who plans to attend an institution of higher learning this fall is eligible to apply. High school students who will be taking concurrent credit classes and students already enrolled in a college or university are welcome to apply. Jury Duty that was scheduled for Monday, May 20 at 1:00 PM and Tuesday, May 21 has been cancelled. If you had been called for Jury Duty on either of these dates, please disregard that summons.

The Nevada County Cooperative Extension Service will present a program on "Farm Pond Management".  The program will feature Scott Jones, UAPB Small Impoundment Specialist.  The meeting is set for 6:00pm 0n May 21st at the First United Methodist in Prescott  There will be a meal provided and the program is free.  To preregister phone 887-2818

On Wednesday May 22nd the Nevada Co. Depot Museum will host a community coffee in observance of Arkansas Heritage Month. The coffee will be at the Nevada Co. Depot from 9:30 -11 am. Everyone is invited!

The Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Community Coffee on Wednesday May 22nd will be hosted by Pafford EMS.  The Coffee is set for 9:30am until 11am at the Chamber office.

The Hempstead County Quorum Court will meet on Thursday May 23rd at 5:30pm in the large courtroom at the courthouse.  All interested persons are welcome.

The Hope for America TEA Party will meet on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 7:00 pm in the Bancorp South Conference room. This month we will hear from Guest speaker Richard Wagnon regarding the Healthcare Independence Act of 2013.

The City of McNab will have a fundraising fish dinner sale Saturday May 25th to raise funds for the new community center.  Catfish dinners are $7.50, Catfish & Buffalo dinners are $6.50, and all bone Buffalo dinners are $5.50.  Delivery is available at 826-1139.  Serving will be in McNab City Park at 3630 Highway 355 South from 11am until 3pm.

The Annual Children's Day and Homecoming will be held Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Midway United Methodist Church. Midway is located five miles west of Prescott on HWY #371. The Children's Program will begin at 10:30 am, potluck lunch at noon, and singing in the afternoon. All singers and friends of Midway are invited to attend. Jim Teeter, Pastor.

The annual "Mission Frances Circle Day" is set for Haynes Chapel Baptist Church Sunday May 26th at 2:30pm.  The theme is "Character Builders, Truth, Honesty".  Special guest is the Greenville Baptist Church of Stamps.  Frankie B. Mitchell is the host pastor and the public is invited

Union Baptist Church will hold homecoming services May 26th at 10:30am. Mitch Dulaney will be the speaker.  Lunch will follow the morning service

The Brotherhood of Fulton will hold an appreciation service for Rev. Charles Bryant on May 26th at 3pm.  The service is set for 3pm at Charity Missionary Baptist Church in Fulton.  Jesse Henry is the host pastor.  Special Guests will be Rev. Alvin L. Hunter and the Lonoke Baptist Church of Hope.  Everyone is invited.

The city of Hope Public Works will be closed Monday May 27th for Memorial Day.  The city landfill will be closed.  Commercial sanitation routes will run normal.  Monday's residential trash will be picked up Tuesday May 28th and Tuesday's trash will be picked up Wednesday May 29th.  There will be no limb or rubbish pick-up that week

Horticulture Field Day is set for May 30th at the Southwest Research and Extension Center.  Sessions include information on growing mushrooms, pecan orchards, beekeeping, and other topics.  Tickets are $17 in advance and $20 at the door.  To preregister or for info call Sherri Pote at 777-9702 extension 100

The Allen Family will be in concert June 30th at two area churches.  They will  be at First Assembly of God in Hope at 322 N. Main at 10:30am and at 6pm at Bethany Baptist Church in Spring Hill.  The public is invited to both concerts


Special Touch Living Hope Bible Study, a Bible Study design to enrich the lives of people with disabilities will be every third Monday of each Month at the Fair Park Community Center in Hope at 6:30 pm. Come, and be a part of an awesome night of Worship and fun as they welcome Leaders of Special Touch Ministries from Wisconsin.

There has been a special account set up for a 911 dispatcher Amanda Dougan.  She has been hospitalized since November 26th  for complications from tumors on her liver. She will eventually have to have surgery to remove them. She is currently hospitalized at Baptist Medical in Little Rock. All donations will be used to offset medical expenses for past and future accumulating bills. Donations can be made to Bank of Prescott (Amanda Dougan love fund) or taken by Uppercuts Salon in Prescott or the Nevada County Sheriff’s office. There is a Facebook page available to keep up with her progress called Prayers for Amanda Dougan. Any amount is appreciated. 

A love fund has been set up for the persons injured in the accident near Beryl Henry Elementary Monday (Oct. 15th). The Martin Family Love Fund has been established at Bancorp South.  All were injured after the vehicle they were in was hit by a semi tractor trailer rig at the corner of the Bill Clinton Bypass and Main Street

A love fund to cover the burial expenses for Jarod Inscore has been established at the Bank of Prescott. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A love fund has been set up for 17 year old Jordan Laughard at First Bank of Hope. Jordan was seriously injured in a car accident and is recovering.

A Love Fund has been established for Brandon Perkins at Summit Bank in Hope. Brandon has recently been diagnosed with a serious medical condition and is unable to work at this time. He and his wife Gina are trying to cover medical costs and living expenses for their family with 3 small boys. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated.

Southwest Arkansas Christian School is now enrolling for a 1/2 day, 5 day per week preschool for children ages 3 to 5. After school care will be offered until 3:15 P.M. each day.
