The Arkansas Natural Resources Commission and the Hempstead County Conservation District reminds all owners of Poultry Feeding Operations that the annual registration for PFO's is now underway through March 31st.  For information call the Conservation District or the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission at 501-682-3968.

The Southwest Arkansas Development Council is now taking applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program.  Applications may be picked up at the SWADC office at 104 South Main.  For information phone 777-2380.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance applications are now being accepted for Nevada County at the Senior Citizens Center at 419 East Main beginning at 9am.  For an appointment call 887-5171.

Nomination letters are now being accepted for the Prescott/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.  The deadline nomination letters is February 24th.  For information call the Prescott Chamber at 887-2101.

The Hempstead County FSA office says  enrollment for the 2012 Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program (DCP) and the Average Crop Revenue Election Program (ACRE).is now underway.  Sign up continues through June 1st.  For information call your local FSA office or visit www.fsa.usda.gov/ar.

The U.S.D.A. will conduct a general sign-up for the C.R.P. program March 12th through April 6th.  For information phone the USDA office in Hope at 777-8800.

The Hope High Ladycats will hold a "hit-a-thon" Friday February 10th to raise funds for softball programs.  If you'd like to help call Coach Mike Godwin at Hope High at 777-3451 or 826-4527.  The "hit-a-thon" will be held Friday at 3:30pm at Ladycat Stadium.  The public is invited.

The Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting Tuesday February 7th for Dos Loco Gringos at North Hervey and I-30.  The ribbon-cutting is set for 10:30am and the public is invited. 

The Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Community Coffee on Wednesday February 8th will be hosted by Temple-Inland.  The Coffee is set for 9:30am until 11am at the Chamber office.

The Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting Thursday February 9th for the new shotgun range at the Rick Evans Grandview Prairie Conservation Education Center.  The ribbon-cutting is set for 2pm and the public is invited.

The Medical Park Hospital Auxiliary will hold a rummage sale Friday February 10th from 8am until 4pm and Saturday February 11th from 8am until 1pm.  The rummage sale will be held at the Fair Park Community Center and proceeds raised will go towards scholarships for those pursuing a career in the medical field.

The Prescott/Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is ordering 100 of the "Treasured Scenes Christmas Ornaments" that featured the old iron bridge.  The ornaments will go fast so if you'd like an ornament phone the Chamber at 887-2101 to have your name put on the list.

The Black History Parade is set for Saturday February 11th.  The parade starts at 1pm.  Lineup begins at 11am at Spruce & 6th.  The Grand Marshall is Dr. LaDell Douglas.

Commodities will be issued in Nevada County at the Senior Citizens Center at 419 East Main in Prescott Tuesday February 14th beginning at 8am.  If you cannot carry your commodities to your car please bring someone who can.

The Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce Community Coffee on Wednesday February 22nd will be hosted by the Girl Scouts.  The Coffee is set for 9:30am until 11am at the Chamber office.

A retirement reception is set for Thursday February 23rd for Helen Byers and Eileen Cole from 3:30pm to 5:30pm at the Melon Patch on South Elm in downtown Hope.  Everyone is invited.

The Black History Month Banquet is set for Saturday February 25th at 6pm.  The speaker will be Dr. Milton Crenchaw, original flight instructor for the Tuskegee Airmen.  Tickets are $10.  Phone 777-7622 or 826-0956 for information or tickets.  The banquet will be held at the Hope High Cafeteria.

The Hempstead County Democratic Women's 10th annual "beans & cornbread dinner" is set for March 15th from 4:30pm to 7pm.  Cost is $5 per plate.  The dinner will be held at the Fair Park Community Center.  Tickets available from any member of the Democratic Women.

Southwest Arkansas Christian School is now offering a Mother's Day Out program on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The program is for potty-trained children 30 months - 5 years old. The program may be used on a per day basis, or as often as needed. Southwest Arkansas Christian School is a licensed preschool with a trained preschool teacher. SWACS uses the "Handwriting Without Tears- Get Set For School" curriculum.
